Application

What to Know Before You Apply:

Students may apply for any clinic or externship through one common application. Simply click the link to the right to begin your application. You must complete the application in one sitting as it will not save your progress once you exit. You will need to have available information on current and past employment, and your future plans and career goals. You will also need to upload a current resume and statement of interest. In the application, you will be able to rank your preferences, with number 1 being your first choice.

Documents to be Uploaded with Your Application:

Resume

Make sure you have an updated resume in either Word or PDF as you will need to upload your resume as part of the application process. Please note: if you are applying for a judicial externship, your resume must include your GPA, otherwise, GPA is not required.

Statement of Interest

Write a Statement of Interest and save as a Word file or PDF as you will need to upload this as part of the application process. In your statement, address the following questions:

bulletWhy are you applying for a clinic or externship?

bulletWhat area or areas of law do not interest you?

What other coursework are you planning to take during the coming semester?bullet

bullet

What do you see yourself doing in five years?

bullet

Are you interested in litigation? Transactional work? Policy work? Other types of practice?

You will be notified of your placement prior to registration for the semester and will have the opportunity to accept or reject the offer. Once enrolled, you may not drop or withdraw from a clinic or externship without faculty approval. Please note some clinics and externships may require a personal interview prior to placement.
